Why I Started Blogging, and Maybe Why You Should Too

Don't trust everything I say, because I'm a newbie.

Blogging has never been something I have considered, like, ever. My literature related hobbies have always involved reading books and random, "What type of pizza are you?" articles on Buzzfeed. However, there has always been an interest in the written. In school I have always excelled at writing, be it short story or reflective or even essay writing, it has always given me that push in grades for English. It isn't all fun, and being 17 it just has a tendency to make me feel oppressed.

Career-wise I'm one of those people who find an interest in anything. At one point I wanted to be a singer, then an actress, then a writer, then a journalist; and I realised that all of these things were English language based jobs. However, there was the thought of me being bored with all of them. I cannot imagine myself being in one place for far too long, there is just no way for me to see myself working in an office for more than a day or two or even an hour. Maybe it's because of my pickiness but I honestly need and crave diversity.

I started blogging, like, two days ago. I started my own blog, I made it all nice and pretty, professional in my opinion. SO, I guess I'm not that qualified to be giving advice or anything on the matter but I just thought it would be interesting to write the reasons I started blogging at the start of my journey because, quite frankly, I have no idea about blogging and maybe you don't either so it'll be fun to see what you find in common and maybe I'll make another post on my thoughts after blogging for some time. Maybe you're thinking of starting a blog or something and you want to see someone who is struggling as much as you, OR you know what you're doing and you're genuinely just curious about my train of thought. ANYWAYS, here are my reasons to start blogging, and maybe there is something which might make you start your own little blog.

1. Creativity

Blogging seems like a way to build an audience, to learn and improve, to give and to receive and to do whatever the fluff you wanna do. That’s why, I started . I'm one of those people that need a creative output to thrive and this is the written form of creativity that I can express myself in. I feel like I'm the unusual creative thinker. I'm shy, conserved, reserved, every synonym for an antisocial creature. However, I love art and books and films and music and drama but I look like the very academic type. Although I am the academic type too, it's always hard to be creative in front of others. I blame the Capricorn Rising, but that's another post.

To me, blogging is the in-between. I can be creative whilst being professional.

2. Boredom

I would like to be honest with you, reader. I’m a big couch potato. Yep. It’s self explanatory, really…

3. Experience

I cannot, for the sake of anything, find work experience. And, since I want to be a journalist (might change!), I have to have something published and blogging seems like the easiest and most 21st century option.

4. Possible Friendships

You can meet like-minded people. There is so many creative minds out there and you could expand your social circle by communicating with fellow bloggers. You can comment on their things and engage with their posts and social media accounts. This not only gives you an extra acquaintance but also gives you and your blog publicity.

5. A Memory Bank

I struggle with keeping a diary because I can't be bothered writing by hand, as much as I love the cute bullet journals on Pinterest I always only do the first page. There is one thing I'm daily on though and that's my computer or phone. I can set up a daily reminder to blog, I can keep drafts and not forget what I was writing about, it's faster and easier for the lazy ones, like me.

On my blog, I'm planning on making a travel page and maybe I'll write posts here too about my journeys.

6. Exploring

I have the freedom to explore any niche I want for this blog because it’s still a newborn. To me, this is the fun part! I have no idea what my blog is going to be about because I’m the average type of girl that’s just okay at makeup and okay at being funny. So, I’m somewhere on the middle of the spectrum, but I have many ideas! I just have too many to share and maybe that is a good thing but it also might be quite bad, because target audience will differ greatly.

If you want to make a blog, you can do it about literally anything! You can try and be a fashion guru at the start and swiftly turn to being a lifestyle blogger. Or even a chicken enthusiast? Because why not?

AND THAT'S IT!

Thank you so much for reading this first, proper post I've written. I hope you did find something useful or interesting. Feedback is welcome!

(If you have time, please consider givin' me a tip to contribute to my High School Leaver's holiday fund so I can start writing about travels and experiences. Thank you!)
