Why Don't You Just Quit?

How to Say Yes to Your Dreams

Say yes to your success!

Every day there are millions and billions of people taking advantage of the media and different social networks on a day-to-day basis. It has been the new modern way to communicate, and in some ways has changed the market forever, right? Making the old traditional way of working your butt off for another company that doesn't treat you good or appreciate you, like a load of crap. People are constantly thinking of new and innovative ways to earn money, so they can work smarter, not harder. Now, don't get me wrong, no matter what it is that you decide to do, if you're shooting for the stars, there will come some measure of hard work that is to be required. Especially in the beginning process — But let's shift things for a second. When your working long hours, not seeing your families, being mistreated, full of anxiety, technically who's really benefiting and to what extent? Yes you are getting a paycheck, but you're unhappy, you're depressed, you're anxious, you're burnt out. Not to mention, every time you turn on the television or look at social media you see someone living the life that you so desperately want to live. Am I right or am I right?

If you're anything like I was, I started daydreaming about all the many things that I'd rather be doing than being at work. Looking around, I even began thinking to myself, is this all my life will be about? The thought that staying in the position that I was in possibly meant yes, terrified me, and made me grow even more depressed. Well, I know what you're thinking. Get up off your ass and do something about it right? Well I did, I started yoga in the mornings, walked to work for extra exercise and mental peace, woke up early to prepare better for my day, I've even seen a therapist, assuming that maybe what I was feeling was a fluke and I'd snap out of it and plan accordingly, like I did with everything else. Wrong! Those walks in the morning only got heavier when it was time to walk through the gates of Hell, which was work at the time. Yoga did not stop me from wanting to scream when I got to work and stare aimlessly at my desk. Lastly, seeing a therapist just let me know all the many things I was destined to be. Which, working for that company, wasn't one of them. No matter what I did, it was not going to change anything about the way that I felt. So I thought, maybe I will try to talk to a co-worker or two, but in a inquisitive kind of way. However, a lot of others had plans to stay where they were and be miserable until they were old, to pay for a life they hated. Can you believe that? They woke up to go to a job they hated, to pay for a life they were unhappy in? Now when I said that statement out loud I realized, wait! That makes absolutely no sense. So you want to know what I did this time around? I know you're waiting to hear it. This is good. You ready?

I QUIT! Yes, I did. Best decision I have ever made. I have had time to read, learn so much, and get to know the many crafts that I was passionate about, grooming them to my liking. Now do not mistake the decision that I made for easy whatsoever, but I weighed my options, began doing some research and decided that today is the day that I begin molding the life that I want to make for me. I got a little part time job at first, had a couple dollars saved up, did some promotional jobs, and some jobs similar to Amazon to have some money to invest in myself. However, the point is I could finally think. I felt like there was so much for me to do that I began to realize that anything was possible for me at this point. Now, I am about to launch my first small book. I am beginning my first business that I always wanted to do, which will make me my own boss, or the word we know and love: an entrepreneur. I even get to see my children and know more of what is going on in their lives. I got my peace of mind back. All the hard work that I was giving away is now going toward my own investments.

The drive is just beginning and, although scary at times, I am ready for the ride. So I say this to say: If you are looking for a change in your life and you are unhappy, life is too short. Just do it! Quit waiting, you'll be waiting forever. Share your gifts with the world and touch lives. You never know what you may say or do that will impact a life in the greatest way. Through you taking the first steps to change your life and shine your light, may cause others to want to do the same. This life that we live in is scary, and the unknown is even more scary for us, right? Are you going to let the unknown stop you? Better yet, have you pondering at your desk about all the things that you always wanted to do with your life, but did not have the courage to at least try. I read two quotes that tickled my fancy. I'll give you one now and one to ponder on later.

"A goal should scare you a little, and excite you a lot." -Joe Vitale

So if there is anything that I learned throughout this journey, thus far, it is mainly one thing. No matter what your parents say, your partner, siblings, friends, colleagues, you owe it to yourself to just freaking try FOR YOU! Everyone may not understand, or even see your vision. Does that mean that it does not have potential? No? So what do you have to lose? You do not have to be like everyone else to be great, be you. Create your own lane to thrive in, and stop slowly withering away, building someone else's dream.

So here is what I want you to do first, if you have been thinking about making this decision for yourself, but you are too afraid:

1. Speak life into yourself.

There is something called the "LAW OF ATTRACTION!" You put into your life exactly what you have manifested into yourself. Shake those crabby negative thoughts out your head and replace them with optimistic new ones. "Delete, out your hard drive they go." Something my mother always used to say. You will have enough people trying to bring you down, because they are upset you had the courage to try to do something they didn't and they are looking to deter you from your purpose and path. You have to be strong enough to repel that kind of negativity. So be sure of yourself and your abilities and understand you will have rough days, but that too shall pass. Just keep moving with the mindset that there is something to learn in every mistake and unhappy moment. You can only get better from there. You purpose is great, let the rough patches mold you into something greater.

2. Do your research.

There is nothing like finally working up the courage to quit your job and begin your journey to only realize, DARN! beginning the process is going to be one-thousand dollars. Don't be naive, it takes money to make money. Save up at your current job then quit with a deadline in mind, or get a side hustle. Uber, Amazon, Lyft, Uber Eats, they all allow you to make your own hours. There are also other companies similar that pay just as decent. With some stable hours made for yourself, you will meet your deadline to begin your investment in no time. If you have money to set aside for a few months of bills, that is all the more better. However, you may have to make some minor downgrades in your home until you're making money from your investments to compensate the money you will lose from your job.

3. Learn about marketing.

If this is not a skill that you already possess, I suggest you learn it, and or pay someone to help with this process. Of course, you want to search the correct forms of marketing for your needs, if any. However, depending on your investment, you want people to come to you. Once you are aware of your target market and what it is that they would like you to supply, you build on that information and analyze for better results. If your marketing is done right, so will your launch.

4. Don't be so hard on yourself.

This is the reason you're quitting your job. To build the life that you want. Right? Not to be miserable working for someone else. Remember there will always be some learning curves in the process. Just take it with your best foot forward and work through them. Remember, you are only human and although you have more time on your hands, take time for some TLC. When working for yourself, don't forget you deserve it. Create a business in the things that you are good at, or at least start the process there and get creative. No matter how adamant you are about seeing the vision through and shutting those naysayers up. You will learn so much about yourself in the process and when it is all said and done you'll be glad that you had the courage to keep on trying.

So, why are you not living the life you want again?

"The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away." -Pablo Picasso
