Delays in your services are sometimes inevitable. Some unexpected things may happen which will require your customers to wait for a little longer. The problem is that some customers tend to be impatient when waiting to be served. In fact, 97 percent of customers get disappointed in lengthy waits, according to a survey from Software Advice. This is why you need to provide your customers with some nice amenities so they won’t get bored or annoyed. For some tips, here are the best ways to keep your customers cool and make them feel comfortable while waiting.

Create a Welcoming Reception Area

Your reception area can say a lot about your business. It does not only give your customers an impression of what your business is about, but it also allows your customers to feel and experience what your services are like. This often serves as a waiting area, so make sure there is a comfortable couch or chair where they can sit while waiting. Replace your furniture as soon as it starts to feel uncomfortable and look shabby. Some customers also tend to explore places with their eyes and if you have attractive interiors, it can make them feel more relaxed. You don’t have to spend a lot on your interior decoration but make sure you have the right lighting. Some cool artwork can also add up to the beauty of your reception area.

Provide Some Entertainment

If your customers have to wait for an hour or more, you need to keep them entertained so they won’t think about leaving. To keep them busy, put televisions in the waiting area. This will distract them from the waiting period since they have something else to focus on. Also, give them free access to your Wi-Fi so they can find other things to do if they don’t like what is on the TV. A lot of people nowadays rely on the internet for entertainment and it can be disappointing if they have to wait for long without anything nice to do. Don’t forget to post the Wi-Fi details so they don’t have to roam around asking for the password.

Offer Refreshments

Waiting can make your customers feel hungry or thirsty. You can’t expect them to have some food or water in their bag, especially if they just walked into your office or shop and if they are with kids. Kids have much lower hunger tolerance than adults and they may start to misbehave when they are hungry and thirsty. To prevent this problem and make your customers comfortable, offer some refreshments such as water or juice and some cookies, pretzels, or other treats that both kids and adults will love. Doing this will not only keep your customers occupied but it will also make them feel valued.

Provide Stress Relief

Some customers may find waiting really stressful. Sitting on a couch for a long time can also make them feel uncomfortable, no matter how soft and nice it is. Old people, especially those with health problems, will not like it so provide them with something that can help relieve their stress. Offer them some calming aromatherapy. The use of massage chairs is also very ideal to melt away all their stress and angst. Add some nice, soft music to keep their calm and make them feel more at ease.

Use Technology for Communication

Some unforeseen events can add more to your customers’ waiting time. If this happens, let them know immediately by sending a text update. Whatever your business niche is, it is good to embrace technology and make good use of it. This can save you time if you are really busy without making your customers feel bad. Explain the situation to them and if they are still at home, give them advance notice so they don’t have to wait too long. Give them your sincere apologies as a simple “I’m sorry” can mean a lot to your customers. It is also a great way to show them how much you care.
