The Author in Me
Why I Became a Writer
First off, I have to say my world is in parts (family, friendships and work) and each part is very important to who I am. Defining who I am is complicated to me because I am a little of everyone in the lifestyle that I lead. Woman, daughter, wife, mother, entrepreneur, author and so on are just some of the titles. I wake up in the morning, lay in bed and listen to the bird's chirp while I meditate. I get up, kiss my mate. and go off into the kitchen to make his lunch for work. I have gotten into the habit of checking out a horror movie before working for the day. I always drink my coffee and write my notes because I map out my workdays to get the most out of the day. I like hardcore work as in phone calls, filing data, building websites, creating ads for people, and even doing the business flatlays. I still, however, found that I had something to say and wanted to express it to help people or just entertain them.
With pen in hand and desk clear ready, I started writing. I self-published my book and—ta-da—another author was born into the world. My first book was a self-help book, which I knew I could write without any problem. It had to do with how I transformed after a broken marriage and the loss of my home. Believe me, when I say to you it made me feel like a million! Not that I didn't feel great already being an entrepreneur and doing some of everything, like filming, radio, and I even write and edit the magazines we have out. Being an author has lit the creative fire in me that I needed to balance me out. I have since gone from writing with a pen to using two computers and my iPad at times. I make as much time as I can to write as often as I can. Most of the stories and articles I have written no one sees, but I write them anyway. Finding the perfect spot in my home is a job. I have work equipment everywhere and so does my mate. So, I created a creative corner near the window for myself where I type my stories or articles now. I surround myself with items that make me feel good inside, or just remind me of a time lost. They bring out a thought or mood that I use to get my thoughts and feelings down. When I look at what I have written most of the time, I judge myself harshly, but figure it helps.
Sometimes I am enlightened by something in the day's activities dealing with me directly or someone else. On my evening lunch breaks, I sit and ponder what to write next depending on the feeling that is inside me. As a writer, I have a chance to live any life or moment I choose, and that sometimes amazes me. I like reading what others have written because I feel writers should support one another, especially when they are not on the best sellers list. Yep, I smiled. Well, I will end this off with why I write. It fulfills my soul and makes the divided pieces of my life whole!
