Submission Steps for 'How To Give Bullies What They Deserve'

It will happen.

I have to submit this book to my literary agent soon. The process begins with a query letter sent by email. You then attach your book proposal as a Word file including a 1-4 page overview of your book. I don’t know what having “information about your author platform” means but I may have to email the agency for more details on this. I have a business plan/promotional/marketing plan ready to go. Chapter summaries need to be written and two sample chapters attached. I also need to go over my citations for a book I have on manipulative people called In Sheep’s Clothing.

The query letter requires a brief synopsis of your work, in one to two paragraphs. The letter also requires a brief explanation of your credentials, in my case, my BA in creative writing, my AA in anthropology and my AA in creative writing. The agency also wants to hear about previous writing experience. I’m concealing the name of this agency but I do want to submit my work to them eventually. The manuscript also has to follow a specific format, as a Word or PDF document done in 12-point font with 1-inch margins, at a minimum length.

1.5 double-spaced text is necessary as are indented paragraphs and pages numbered in order. I’m going to get my pagination problem fixed on Fivvr. The agency doesn’t like Comic Sans or Papyrus font. You also have a competitive title analysis regarding similar books that are on the market right now. My book on bullies needs to be submitted soon. You see, bullies enjoy throwing their victims under the bus. Nice people, normal people, do not necessarily believe that evil people will hurt them. They are in for a world of hurt and a rude awakening.

I need to submit my book soon. I have a query finished, a book proposal finished, a business plan finished, and my book itself is almost done. The agency I am going to submit to is in Southern California. The response time is six to eight weeks. I also have to tell them if I get interest from other agents. I’m a new writer—unpublished, of course, I’m going to have no interest from anybody, period. Nonfiction always requires a complete proposal to be written and sent before a publisher accepts your work. I need to edit my citations, however, before I submit. This could turn into an OCD procrastination thing, of course.

I have no idea which sample chapters to include. My ending is about frenemies, the worst kind of bully there is. Attachments need to have supplementary information on the book as I have no idea what that means such as including seminar and speaking schedules that I do not have lined up yet. I’m not a previously published author unless you count Opening New Dimensions as a previously published author situation. I only sold one or two copies anyhow. This was all of it and I’m probably not going to sell more copies. For my fiction, I need a fiction-based literary agent.

I have many non-fiction rants on my list of books to write. I only have so many hours in my day. It is high time I emailed the literary agency to get more information. I have to fix the pagination problem before I do anything else though. This will happen. I mean, I need to hire my eye for my citations at the very least, saying I will pay them later. I really would like to hire a professional editor, give or take. I just searched Fiverr. I can not only hire from Fiverr, I can work for Fiverr. This is worth looking into. Wow. Okay. So this needs to be joined. Onward and upward.
