Struggling with Writers Block

So I am about to get really personal here.

I am not even sure if I should be on this site. It all boils down to two things: one—will I even get the amount of money that they appear to promise, and two— should I even be writing for the sake of money? In all seriousness, I do not want to write for the money alone. Writing specifically for money is a big no-no for me because, in my experience, that sucks all the flavor from the writing. When writing for money, the writing itself can become tasteless and bland because of the weight of everyone's expectations—it's like preparing the perfect meal: when you have too many different seasonings, it all becomes too much.

That's why the writer, like the chef, intuitively knows what flavors to add. Of course it is okay to use recipes such as self-help books when trying to figure out how to write but the best way to learn is to just do it. That way, the chef can make little changes here and there and change the taste and overall flavor of the meal to better suit the type of meat or salad being prepared. Now, when it comes to writing for money, I just... it does not sit well within my soul. That's why I accept donations because those are gifts from the heart—not charges made to readers to read the story you are trying to tell them. I think I am honestly better at blogging than creative writing, even though I do hope to write at some point.

Here are some tips to help with writer's block. Now, understand that not all of these tips will apply to you—as much as it sucks, you are the one who is going to have to choose which seasonings to add to your dish to make it taste good to you.

Tips:

1. Step out into nature.

Lately, I find that stepping out into nature really helps and is very calming to the human spirit. To walk around and take those huge breaths is vital because we are like plants, in a way. We need air, water, sunlight, and soil—to feel the soil beneath our feet can be very rejuvenating. Be free-spirited and run around with some friends barefoot. You will look weird, definitely, but it is a great way to loosen up and maybe shake some cobwebs in that mind of yours.

2. Take care of yourself

I am Aporia, Goddess of Transformation and Change. Well, to be honest I am not actually a goddess nor do I think of myself in such a high manner. But I want to emphasize the importance of taking care of yourself. You need to do this in order to be able to help yourself mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. If you are experiencing depression, please go and talk with someone. I am currently waiting until my therapist gets my insurance to connect with her so that I can avoid paying $100 an hour. It is so important to treat yourself write.

3. Don't push it.

Writing takes practice but don't push it. You don't need to be like writers such as J.K. Rowling or Stephen King. No. You need to be yourself and write what comes naturally. Do not force it as that is never a good way to bring about writing.

I hope these tips help!
