Life as an Entertainer

Holiday Parks.

So for anyone out there, that is interested in getting into Entertainment, and is wanting to try Holiday Parks, I would highly recommend it.

I promise it will be the best thing you ever do, whether it is experience you are after, a passion for dancing, or just creating some amazing memories to last you a lifetime, and of course meeting some amazing people. I myself have worked for Holiday Parks, and one company in particular for over nine years, starting as just a normal entertainer and progressing up to presenter, and gradually becoming Entertainments Manager / Presenter. I personally love my job, and even after all this time I still have so much passion for this!

Let me tell you though it isn't for the faint hearted, the days can be long, and the hours unsociable, but all in all it really is amazing; everyday in work can be different, nothing is guaranteed, your work colleagues become family. I have personally met some amazing people throughout the years, some have done it for a year, met the love of their life, got married, and started a family. Some have been doing this longer than myself, and they're still loving it. I think an important aspect to remember is to keep doing it for as long as you enjoy it. Once the fun stops then you stop. A bit like gambling, except you don't lose anything.

This job can also really set you up for the future whether you want to progress to cruise ships, TV, or radio; it really gives you a foundation to create your own unique brand (YOURSELF), because that is what you are really selling, so make sure you are just being you.

So the normal day of an Entertainer...

well the first place to start really is with the morning shifts... Breakfast (URGGG) these are the dreaded mornings everyone hates no matter how long you have been doing this! Especially if you went out the night before, and you are on the shift! Making sure that you look fresh faced, smell good, and look good for the holiday makers is always important. After breakfast, it's usually time for kids' clubs, where they either do Arts and Crafts, or something similar to stimulate the brain while the parents sneak away to the bar to try and get a pint at 10 AM (don't worry, no one is judging). Once this is done, there are normally a few other activities including characters—if you are lucky enough to become friends with these guys then you are winning at life! These will become your best friend!

Usually all the day time stuff stops around one to two PM in the afternoon, then you are free for the rest of the day to either go back to your accommodation, or if you a new to the area, go exploring (I highly recommend you get out and about). Your second shift usually begins around five PM for... BINGO!! (Yes, really). Everyone loves this!!! (NOT), but don't worry, the dreaded, boring, mundane task of calling the numbers out doesn't last too long. After bingo that's where it really gets going. Tots time! YAY! over 100 screaming kids beating you up, and laughing at you on the dance floor all in the name of entertainment! (YAY) I love my job, I really do, but as they say kids are like Farts... you don't mind your own, you just can't stand other people's... I joke, really they are all angels! :)

The night shift flies by, and before you know it disco is beginning, and you're heading home to get ready to do it all over again (YAY).

I hope you enjoyed this, I am just testing the waters to see how this goes down, and of course I will be spilling some more secrets and adventures in the life of an entertainer, and what really goes on behind closed doors.

Until next time... PEACE OUT :P
