Running a coffee place might be fun, but it’s not always easy. This is especially true today when so many coffee shops are coming to life. People love socializing and they love good coffee, but it can be rather tricky getting them to choose your cafe and not someone else’s. You could have the best coffee ever, but without good tactics for attracting customers, you won’t get very far. With these tips, your coffee shop is bound to be full once more.

1. Reward loyalty

Loyalty is something that should always be rewarded. Not only does it help you attract new customers who want to get in on the action, but it also helps you retain old ones. You can come up with a variety of loyalty programs that keep people coming back. The most famous example of this is the stamp card. After every few drinks, people can get a free one.

You can reward loyalty in a more direct way, too. Make an effort to remember customers’ names and orders if they come by often. They’ll be touched that you remembered and will start to form an emotional bond with the coffee shop. Soon enough this will become their hang out place, simply because they feel loved and appreciated.

2. Be unique

With so many coffee shops out there today, you’ll have to be unique. Show your customers why it’s you they should choose instead of your competitors. The best way to do this is to add a quirky element to the shop. Just coffee shops aren’t interesting anymore, as people have seen and experienced them a thousand times. Instead, combine drinking coffee with another hobby. For example, you could start a bookstore or library in your shop. This will attract a lot of bookworms. Who doesn’t like reading while drinking their coffee?

You could also make it a cat cafe, where people could hang out with lots of different kitties and bring their own. This gives you the opportunity to take care of your community’s animals, too, making you even more approachable and popular.

3. Have a garden

When it’s a nice day outside, no one will want to be indoors. If your coffee shop doesn’t have a seating area outside or a garden, it’s going to be completely empty. People don’t want to sit under the AC when they don’t have to. Natural shade outside in the afternoon is much more comfortable for most. Your seating area should have lots of plants to enhance the experience and make people feel more at ease.

As well as that, you should consider adding high-quality commercial shade structures. Sure, the people love the sun, but they don’t want to bathe in their sweat the whole afternoon. It’s much better if you provide some shade for your customers. Enjoying the beautiful day outside will be much easier when you can relax in the shade while you sip your favourite cup of Joe.

4. Be present online

Online presence is especially important today. If your business doesn’t exist on social media, it’s like it doesn’t exist at all. You should create at least an Instagram account and promote it all across the network. Don’t be afraid to use both paid and organic advertising. Be responsive and engaging with users, and post things regularly.

The artsier your posts are, the more users you’re bound to attract. That’s why Instagram is the perfect place for a coffee shop. You can take plenty of pics of your specialities and coffees to make customers see what they’re missing out on by staying at home. When people start sharing your pics and mentioning your name, or even just commenting on your posts regularly, you’ll know you’ve done a good job.

Conclusion

As you can see, the trick to attracting new customers is to speak their language. Understanding what the public wants and giving it to them is the only way to be successful in any business. All you have to do is get with the times and listen to what people around you have to say. Soon enough, you’ll be swimming in new orders and loving your job as much as you did when you first started.
