There have been recent polls done on groups of people around the United States, from all backgrounds and careers, on what they would rather choose. The selections included being the CEO of a fortune 500 corporation, being the owner of a small business, or working for someone else. Guess what the vast majority of people choose? Yes, they chose to own a small business due to the control they would have, but it would be less intimidating than running a large corporation. There's a whole industry called enterprise performance management where they teach how you can create the best business, and so, in this article, we will be discussing some tips on how to do this.

How to Start

Building a business is hard, let's not kid ourselves. It takes hours of work, patience, sacrifice, failure, money, ups and downs, but it is all worth it in the end. If you've started a business, but feel like it could be much more, that's because it can! You can do anything you want ONLY if you believe in it enough, and are willing to put in the work. So here's some tips on how to create the best business possible:

  1. Have an exit strategy
  2. Promote communication
  3. Have task management
  4. Have daily or weekly meetings
  5. Automate as much as you can
  6. Know that the customer is your GOD
  7. Seek quality and customer service

We listed having an exit strategy as the first thing, because it is extremely important. Think about a plane or a ship that is trying to get to a certain destination, it can't get there if it doesn't know what the destination is. Most businesses are started by people who simply want to start a business, but don't see the end game. They do it for the thrill, and to say that they started a business, but if you want to create the best business possible, you have to be committed all the way. An exit strategy can be selling the business, merging with a larger company, or taking your company public on the stock exchange. These are large goals that will MAKE you create a great business, because only great businesses ever get to the exit.

In order to create a great business, there has to be communication between you, your employees, investors, customers, suppliers, and anyone that can affect the trajectory of said business. If there's no communication, what ends up happening is tasks don't get completed, people become scared of discussing problems until they're too big to stop. Make sure you promote communication throughout your company. One of the best methods of communication is having a task management software where people can work on tasks and send messages to each other. These software have history logs as well, so that there's transparency all across the company. To end the topic of communication, make sure you have meetings where free speech is accepted.

Automate as much as you can so that your time is free to do more important things. Automate your social media, your marketing, your email, and any other tasks that can be automated. Know that the customer is your most important asset, and they really become god-like, because without them your business dies. So, you must seek quality and customer service above all. Great quality gets your customers in the door, customer services keeps them until the end of the business cycle, and even beyond. If you focus on these seven tips, you will become a great business, and a brand that people not only recognize, but do business with, and tell others about.

In conclusion, in this article, we discussed the topic of business, and how you can create the best business you can. It all starts with having an end goal in mind, so that you can work backwards towards that amazing vision. Provide quality customer service, promote communication in your organization, and no stone will be un-turned, and in a few years you will have created a great business.
