Necessary Equipment On A Construction Site

In order to have a construction site up and running, you need to get the right gear. However, that doesn’t only include heavy machinery, like cranes or bulldozers or forklifts. No, you will have to get the proper gear that allows people to use that kind of heavy equipment, gear that allows you to manage everything, and just things that keep the entire work process running smoothly.

Sanitation and power utilities

Trust us, no construction worker will ever want to work for somebody who can’t provide them with essentially like sanitation. Furthermore, you need to provide people with enough power, otherwise they won’t be able to do their work. So, you want porta potties, water tanks, wastewater holdings tanks… The only exception is if you have some direct access to the city’s sewer system.

Furthermore, you are going to need portable generators, both to power some on-site power tools, and in general as a sort of backup for your site.

A mobile office

You need to provide a place where managers, architects, engineers, and foreman can do their jobs. Since they will most likely need access to both a computer and a desk, as well as continual access to the entire site, a mobile office is a must.

And of course, boosting employee morale is vital, so having them work in a well-lit, warm office is vital if you want work to be directed properly. It should also have some other amenities, like nice chairs, maybe even bunk beds for those long shifts.

Waste disposal systems

We already mentioned waste and sanitation, but there is another type of junk you need to get rid of. Namely, every construction site on earth leaves a lot of waste and junk behind. Anything from dust, to rubble, to metal shavings, it all needs to be disposed of properly. Either get some bins and get rid of the stuff yourself, or hire a specialized company, like Skip Bin Hire for example, and have them handle it.

Vehicles and gear

The fun stuff—heavy machinery and power tools. SO, bulldozers, excavators, trenchers, scrapers, motor graders, loaders, the works. You need to have heavy stuff on wheels move heavy stuff that’s on the ground, away from the ground.

Furthermore, you also need lighter, more mundane equipment: wheelbarrows, wedges, trowels, vibrators, jackhammers, spades, polishers, hammers… Basically, all small tools that are needed to get the job done.

Safety and security equipment

Finally, you also need to provide your people with protective gear. Things like first aid kits are vital no matter what your line of work is. Then, you also need protective suits and goggles if your people handle hazardous chemicals. The appropriate visors need to be provided if you have people doing welding work, or just being on jobs that involve a lot of sparking and flashing.

Of course, motivating employees to use protective gear can be a hassle, so you probably need some manuals and signs as well. Post posters all over the build site, serving as reminders and warnings for people. You will probably need to provide work boots, helmets, gloves, and the appropriate harnesses.

Conclusion

And there you have it folks, a couple of tips to get your construction site up and running. Anything from vehicles and heavy machinery, to some basic, humble goggles, you need it all in order to run everything correctly. And of course, don’t forget about the right sanitation equipment, coupled with some backup generators, and emergency fuel. You also need a mobile office where your managers and foreman can sit down and organize the entire work process.
