What It's Like To Be
From postal worker to film producer, what is it like to do what you do?
Social Shock
Starting a new job is always kind of rough but I felt that this time this was a job that I would really like. I had wanted to get into Detox Nursing for several years and this was the first time that I had actually taken the plunge, applied for and accepted a position in that field. I was convinced that this was going to be a major shift for me. I was excited when I got a call to work a full-time job there. I had just finished up a contract job at another location and I felt that it was time to take on a full-time job with better benefits.
Iced Rooms and Locker Cream
...WHAT did I just say? (But, whatever I said, I guarantee you that I have your attention now). Let's try this again, shall we?

Who doesn’t love a fresh clean home? We stop and gaze at it in wonder and satisfaction. It’s relaxing and soothing because, if for no other reason, it’s done. The nagging chore checked off the to-do list. We’re aware we will have to do it again another day, but in the moment…this is bliss.

The Myth of the 'Respectable Job'
What even is a 'respectable job'? For most if not the entirety of my life, a recurring statement I heard from my parents, teachers, well-meaning aunts and uncles was: "Work hard in school so you can get yourself a respectable job."

As a reader, you might think that we writers just go to Starbucks and just start writing on the laptop by enjoying our favorite coffee.

Britain's Got (No) Talent
Six years ago, I took a gap year. My plan was to eat an abundance of local delicacies, work a crazy job, get hammered with barefoot hippies and regularly wake up face first in a pool of my own vomit – I was, of course, moving back in with my parents in England.

Creative Copywriting in a Sea of Tech
Have you ever stepped into a boat and sailed out into the sea? The experience can be both exhilarating and terrifying. There are so many beautiful sights to see, but also many unknowns. What if you get lost or capsize? Can you really survive in these unknown waters? Stepping into the FinTech industry, a newly minted copywriter, was like paddling out to sea in a rowboat held together with duct tape.

How Much Can You Earn As A Freelancer?

Am I my job? Are you? Oh hell no.
Today, I was thinking about my job. And then I was thinking about my worth. And then, I was thinking about how the correlation I made between my job and my worth made absolutely no sense.

What happens when a girl who knows nothing about cars tries to sell one?
I woke up Friday morning, two snoozes past my actual alarm, oh how I terribly didn't want to go to work. I just had this feeling that it wasn't going to be a good day. Besides, I hadn't even attempted to look at the briefing that was sent prior. It was a 20-minute video and pages and pages of documents about the new Kia Carnival GUV car that was going to be positioned in the middle of Chermside Shopping Centre, yay.

Blossoming In STEM... And Other Spaces
Yamila is a Dominican Republican who relocated to Canada to pursue her tertiary studies in Biology on a full scholarship. Suffice it to say, she has been making big waves ever since. Yamila Franco is a force to be reckoned with, and I don't mean that in a cliché way. I battled with writing this as I tried to decide how to do Yamila's story justice. I felt her list of accomplishments was too long to squeeze into just one article. Regardless, I chose not to pass up the opportunity to use a medium like this to share her achievements with the world. She is just that good.
