If you have a passion for health and wellness, and want to dedicate your life to helping people experience long, happy lives, then the variety of jobs in the medical field might inspire you.

The options below cover different parts of the health field and involve using different equipment, which should suit whatever talent or educational experience you have. This guide aims to let you know some of the best careers to pursue in the medical field.

Radiologist

Some occupations involve a greater use of technology than others. If you have more of a technical background, and if you want to get a better view of what goes on inside the human body, then becoming a radiologist might be your fit. With the use of imaging techniques, you’ll be able to detect what is causing an illness and perhaps how to treat it.

You could perform an MRI scan for prostate cancer detection or look at how a bone was broken in a motorcycle crash so that the next step can be determined. This job involves meeting with patients at several points over time and doing scans to observe how things are proceeding.

Physician Assistant

You may want to take a position that allows you to learn how to perform particular procedures or conduct diagnoses for a variety of conditions. In this case, being a physician assistant may be the best way to go.

You will undertake different tasks as a physician assistant, such as assigning medication to the right patients, collecting data about conditions so that the right treatment can be applied, and communicating with other medical professionals who might need your help. If you have any questions, a licensed physician will instruct you along the way.

Registered Nurse

Another profession that involves assisting physicians is a registered nurse, though this one allows you to perform more tasks at the same level as those done by physicians. Examples include monitoring progress in patient's recovery over a period of time, as well as educating patients and their families on their illnesses and how to treat them outside of the hospital.

This job requires that you be able to operate medical equipment used for different scenarios, which gives you the opportunity to help different patients. You will be able to test equipment for people suffering from physical injuries to move around and accomplish daily tasks. This will help you move up in the ranks of the medical field, as well.

Dentist

As a dentist, you’ll be able to keep people’s teeth looking and feeling good with anything from a periodic cleanup to a deeper analysis of a patient’s teeth and gum to check for signs of oral diseases.

This option also involves providing advice for how to stay healthy on a regular basis, such as diets to follow that focus on protecting teeth and using certain toothbrush, mouthwash, and other products designed for whatever condition you might have. You will also get to work with dental hygienists, dental assistants, and other professionals doing various procedures.

Surgeon

You may be searching for a career that allows you to have a more hands-on approach to helping people get better. One way to do so is by being a surgeon, which lets you operate on tumors, broken bones, and other problems that have can’t be fixed without surgery.

Surgeons get to work in teams of different sizes, depending on how severe the problem is that they’re trying to fix. You will also get to treat a variety of conditions that affect the brain, heart, spine, and other parts of the body that alter the lifespans of patients.
