THE LITTLE BLACK BOOK
THE LITTLE BLACK BOOK As she searched through the belongings of her recently deceased grandmother, she remembered playing in this old attic with her “mawmaw”. There had always been interesting things in this attic, including old clothes that she loved to dress up in, and jewelry as well. Paula smiled a rather sad smile as she walked over to the old trunk where all those fabulous clothes were still kept. She opened it, hearing the creak of the old hinges on the back. She pulled out the long, yellow dress she used to love so dearly and held it up in front of her as she looked in the old mirror that still stood at the end of the room. Oh, she could not wear that dress anymore for she was not quite so slim as she had been when she was a teen. Her grandma had let her wear that dress to her prom. It was definitely different than anything anyone else had worn with its silky layers and puffy sleeves, but she did not care. She folded the dress back into the trunk carefully and closed it.

A Trip to Arkansas
My kids and I went on a trip to Murfreesboro, Arkansas. We started out early in the morning before sunrise since we live in Northeast Mississippi. I chose to take Highway 82 West since it goes all the way across Mississippi, and into Arkansas. We also dropped off some computers at a friend's house in Winona, MS to be fixed while we were on our trip. What's fun about going on a trip like this is finding your way on a map, and seeing places you have never been. Not the Interstates...just regular State highways.

Online College
We've all seen those commercials about online college. They encourage us to get our degree online. But is it worth it? Up to now, I am not so sure it is worth it. If you are a stay-at-home mom, your options are limited if you have not worked in several years. Even if you have a degree that you got online, you're going to hear these phrases when you apply for jobs, even jobs that your so-called degree qualify you for: "You don't have enough work experience;" "You have no work history;" "You don't have the experience we're looking for."

Traveling Across the Countryside
Last year, my four children and I went on a trip to Southern Indiana and Louisville, Kentucky. We're from Mississippi, so it was a pretty long trip for us especially since we are not that accustomed to traveling. I was going there to take a test for a job.

The Silent Victims
I'm not exactly sure what to write, but I think I will use the list of questions on Vocal as a guide until I get the hang of this. The first one is "What do you love in this world?" Well, I have four children, and I love them more than anything. We have definitely been through a lot of hard times to get where we are now, as we escaped from my abusive husband. A lot of people do not understand when you say you "escaped", because most people think it's as simple as just walking out the door and never going back, but there is so much more to it than that.

Fitness and Determination
Something I love in life is working out, and being fit. There are a lot of reasons that people give for wanting to work out, but I simply love doing it. I love lifting weights and watching my body change as my muscles become more visible.
