4 Suggestions for Wattpad

So they can help become a better site.

There are many sites where you can host your stories and you can even create your own for free or for a small fee. Wattpad is one of the biggest and more known out of all of them. In many years as a writer, I have been loyal to many writing sites including this one. I think there are some ways that I think Wattpad can improve as a site. As of writing, I think Wattpad may be even looking into ways it can use some of these suggestions.

Readers and writers should earn Wattpad Coins.

The paid writers' program is a fairly new feature on Wattpad. The only way to get Wattpad coins is to buy them through the apps on your phone. I think it's a shame that this is the only way to get coins. I know Wattpad has a lot of users that go on their phone, but I find that Wattpad is smoother on the desktop.

I also think that big milestones for writers should help them earn coins. The amino app does this concept well with awarding members for activity by levelling up. It's a nice boost.

Be able to give and donate coins.

I think this would be a lovely idea to help support paid writers on the program as well as a way for authors to help their readers who don't have a lot of money. Although I can see this being abused, with the tight regulations that Wattpad have such as not asking for votes, I can see this working really well for them.

More incentives towards Premium and Paid Authors.

Wattpad is known as the story with millions of stories to read free of charge. Wattpad has been kind to members past, present, and future, unlike Imageshack and Photobucket who want to charge you for things you've been doing for free for years.

Premium makes you no better than a free member. It doesn't increase your chance of being famous or winning awards. As for ad-blockers, people can just use ad-blockers. I think it's a real shame that Wattpad Premium members still have to buy their own Wattpad coins to read stories from the paid programs. If I was a premium member, this would annoy me. if I'm already paying a premium, why should I pay extra for something I should already be receiving?

One way around is to translate the premium membership fees to Wattpad coins. This way all writers and readers can be supported.

Bring out more paperbacks and help create audiobooks.

If Wattpad did this, they could become a genuine contender for Amazon's ACX and KDP. They already have communities that are happy to make graphics, book trailers, formatting, and all the fancy things to make Wattpad books special. I know that a select few are published on Paperback now, but if there was the option to help authors create their own paperbacks and self-publish it through Amazon, Lulu, Smashwords and any others, I think this would be brilliant. Amazon takes too much of the pie when it comes to self-publishing.

A lot of young and new writers are limited in what options they can do and where to publish their books other than on Wattpad and with Amazon. Perhaps Wattpad and Amazon can work together in the future.

I hope Wattpad doesn't take this too harshly and find my comments and insights helpful. I love Wattpad and think it is a wonderful sight that has helped millions achieved their goals both as writers and as readers. It's also a valuable marketing and promotion tool.

They are currently hosting Wattys, one of the biggest writing contests on the internet. Winners have gone on to have their books published with industry giants and had their work converted to the silver screens of Netflix.
